Friedrichsbrunn is a little town, situated in deep wide forests in the eastern Harz-mountains near such famous towns as Wernigerode, Thale and Quedlinburg 600 meters above sea level. The Bodevalley (sometimes called the "Grand Canyon of the Harz-mountains") is just a stone's throw away.

The town arose in the end of the seventeens century as a woodworker-colony and became first famous for the delivery of christmas trees to Berlin. The name Friedrichsbrunn is a tribute to his royal highness king Friedrich who has visited the colony in 1754 and rested there at a well, later called the "Frederiks-well" (which means in german: Friedrichsbrunn). From this time on, Friedrichsbrunn became more and more attractive to vacationists. Today it is a nice place to spend the holidays in summer and winter too, because of its public footpathes and the wintersport facilities.

We recommend to visit Friedrichsbrunns little spa garden. It is a nice recreation place with the possibility to swim and stay in a "Gradierwerk", witch is a place where the surrounding air is accumulated with fogs of saltwalter coming up from Friedrichsbrunns underground. It feels like a day at the open sea.

Some other rerecreation facilities you are looking for, will be found in Friedrichsbrunn. For instance indoor swimming pool, the ski-museum, because of Friedrichsbrunn history in wintersports, some wellness facilities, going by horse and carriage thru the forests and much more.
